I'm looking to make things harder on me
I like fastmail. I like mutt and getting as much work and reading done in the terminal as possible. It has a lot fewer distractions and keeps my brain quieter.
However, I haven't tried to get fastmail working with Mutt. I had it working well with the older shared host, so I don't think it should be too hard with Fastmail.

Do I need to?
No, I actually like the web client and I have it running on my phone without issue.
Do I want it?
Yep.
Am I going to regret doing it when I'm in the middle of it and a bunch of small things aren't going right?
Very very likely.
In the end I will have learned something new that will have no foreseeable context in the rest of my life/work, but its how I learned pretty much everything odd that I know today.
