Autumn Stroll along Old Coach Road

The weather was nice so we picked a close trail that we haven't been to before, and chose The Old Coach Road in Bedford.

There wasn't a lot of people on the trail, in fact we only cross paths with one new Dad with their tiny baby wrapped to their chest sleeping. There was a spot with a couple active tiny birds.

And even some art work along the trail.

Don't feed wildlife

I should have said, it was a nice peaceful walk until it wasn't. We stopped at this bench for our snack. It is the best way to get the kids to stay moving, have them pick the "best" bench for the snack and that is where we will stop, but we have to get to the end of the trail to know that its the best.

That bench was designated the best, so its where we stopped. Everything was fine for a minute and then the squirrels found us. These were the most aggressive squirrels that I have ever come across. My first thought was that we were too close to their nest, but I poked around and didn't see any signs, but I did see a sign.

A sign saying Shipley's Rooftop seedbar with a "camo" flower shaped thing for the seeds.

No wonder these squirrels were expecting some of my kids' snack. This is where they come to eat. And if your first thought was, "huh, I thought it was really bad to feed wildlife, even squirrels", well you'd be right. In fact, the city puts signs in parks all over HRM stating this.

However, some locals thought this was a "bad" thing and put stickers all over it.

I don't know what those stickers are supporting, but it is definitely not protection of wildlife. Based on the font alone, its probably one of those far right white nationalist groups that are expanding all across the country.

Still a nice walk

Even with the squirrels literally jumping on us trying to get a piece of the granola bar, and chasing us from a quiet pond with ducks, it was a nice wander through the woods.

This trail, like most in around the city has the problem with car noise. I find point pleasant park is much better for this, but I avoid there on the weekends. Too many shitty dog owners that don't control their animals.

If I lived out in the suburbs though, having a path like this would be a bonus. Its not something that I see much in the newer suburbs.
