A Visit to Hope for Wildlife

Hope for Wildlife is a wildlife rehabilitation and education organization located in Seaforth, Nova Scotia. They have a few pens and trails so we met up with some cousins to wander around this afternoon.

I learned today that they also have a reality TV show, I found some of them on Youtube here

Tractor in a field

If you want to visit there are only open on Saturdays at the moment, but I think they have more open hours in the warmer months.

Most of the animals are in very well built enclosures, so I don't have many great photos of the animals that they do have, and I had to make sure that kiddos didn't get in the way, so there wasn't a lot of time to compose.

Berries

There were a bunch of bushes with bright red berries. Its that time of the year, and they were contrasting nicely today.

Most of the animals

I say most of the animals because there were otters playing by the dock, but when we went to look they really wanted to get close and jump on us, like dogs.

Suspicious looking otters

As we walked to the dock they got behind us and then really wanted to jump on one of the kids. We were able to get clear of the area, but then they followed.

Otter that wants to fight

From the bits that I overheard, at least one of these sea otters were rehabed at Hope for Wildlife and comes around some times looking for fish. They aren't as wild as they should be, and if you don't have food for them the will "nip" at you.

Fun without otters

It is a pretty good place to check out, especially if you have little ones that like animals. It is probably a lot better without the wild wind, but even with its fun.
