Sugar Cookies - No Dairy
These are my no-dairy rolled sugar cookie recipe. It is modified from an old Good Housekeeping Cookbook we keep on the shelf.
I wish I could find something contemporary that had a similar style as this cookbook. Either they are branded, complicated or more pretty than useful.
Recipe for Rolled Sugar Cookies
Rolled Sugar Cookies - No Dairy
- 3-1/4 C Flour
- 1-1/2 C White Sugar
- 2/3 C Coconut Oil
- 2 Eggs
- 2-1/2 TSP baking powder
- 1 TSP Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 TSP Salt
- 1 Egg white and 1TB water for glaze.

- Into a large bowl add everything but egg white. Beat until well mixed.
- Shape dough in ball, wrap and place in the fridge. 2-3h will do it, but overnight is fine too.
- When chilled, pre-heat oven to 400F and roll out dough on a floured surface.
- Roll thin for crisp cookies, and 1/8-1/4" for softer ones.
- Flour your favourite cutters and cut. Re-roll the trimmings until all used.
- Place cookies on cookie sheets about 1/2" apart. Glaze with the egg white & water mixture.
- Bake for about 8min or when very lightly brown. Cool on wire racks.
Hints and Tips
- Sprinkle the tops with sprinkles, decorating sugar or plain white sugar before placing in the oven.
